Paddy Yield in 2008 Yala Season
In 2008 yala season the highest paddy yield
in the island is reported from Mahaweli Systems.
Among the Mahaweli Projects Uda
Walawe has reached the highest i.e
6,198 kilo grams per hectare. The details of the Project comparatively to the
previous yala season are given below.

For increasing the average paddy yield special yaya
demonstrations were conducted in each Unit Manager Division of all the Mahaweli Projects.
In addition to the normal programme, crop
cutting surveys were conducted for yaya
demonstrations with the help of the Department of Census & Statistics.
