The Planning & Monitoring Unit (PMU) library functions as the Special Government Institute Library at Planning & Monitoring Unit of Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka (MASL) under the purview of Ministry of Agriculture and Mahaweli. We specialized to provide the information about the Mahaweli Development programme since 1968. For this purpose we acquire and arrange the library, which usually are limited to the various subjects of special interest to our organization.

We collect and organize reports including feasibilities, evaluations, technical reports and various books, pamphlets, manuscripts, and other materials related to the Mahaweli programme. We classifying them following an International Library Standards (WINISIS) and maintaining our own computerized data catalogue to retrieve the information easily.

In addition, we review and take description on vast amounts of information done for the Mahaweli Programme by various consultants, specialists and also take descriptive analysis of professionals master’s studies, according to our specific needs and set up information of the Internet to maintain a public awareness services
